Let's Create Our Podcasts!

Let's Create Our Podcasts!

I am with you with a brand new and fun experience. 'Creating a Podcast'. In fact, many of us are familiar with podcasts. When we put on our headphones and want to listen to something, the first option after the music is to listen to audio recordings about a subject that interests us. You can listen to authentic podcasts that you can listen to while going to school or work, in traffic, while doing sports, or preparing meals, as well as those created to teach a language. It will help your listening and comprehension skills. This is where we come in.

So we set out to understand how we can use these fun tools in language learning and teaching. First, we did research throughout the course to find out which podcasts and podcasts are broadcasted to which target audiences on which sites. This was the most fun part for me. Because I had the opportunity to meet new and interesting ones as well as popular sites and broadcasters After we learned with which tools we would produce our own podcast, we were assigned to use the information we gained.

We had 4 fun task. My attention was drawn to the task of making a podcast by explaining an idea that would improve the world in 60 seconds. But for this, I needed an interesting idea. I thought for a long time and consulted the people around me. Finally, I came up with my own idea and prepared the transcript. but it was hard to fit it in 60 seconds. Another challenge was finding suitable place  to record the sound. I had to lock myself in the toilet in my dorm room with my computer :)

Of course, producing was also fun, but discovering new favorite podcasts was more fun for me. I believe my students will enjoy it too. I think that being a tool that does not limit listening tasks in the classroom environment is its most useful feature in terms of education.

You can find my podcast here .

  See you soon.

What is the Padlet?

What is the Padlet?

In this text, I want to talk about 'Padlet' one of the web 2.0 tools. Maybe you already know maybe it is the first time you heard it just like me. So, let's look at what the Padlet is, how it is used and how we can benefit from it as educators, with the help of my own experiences.

Padlet is an interactive sharing site. First, imagine the pinboard in your home. you can pin a to-do list, a shopping list, a warning note, or just your photos with your family. Everybody can see and make some changes on it. Now, would you like to digitalize all of them to be always with you and those around you? Furthermore, it provides an opportunity to pin multimedia and links unlike real board.

This quite useful and easy platform is working like that:

First is first, you sign in to padlet.com .An empty wall will welcome you. Then, you can create your post about what you want. To share them with intended users,it needs to write their e-posta addresses. Now your padlet is open to access. That is all. As you can see it is quick and a piece of cake.

In terms of education, with the help of this tool teachers can provide a media that their students can collabarativly work. The  teacher can create a class wall that they can add ,change, and orginise their works with videos photos links etc at the same time. Also, for group tasks  students can create thir walls by themselves. This improves their creativity, too.

With the help  of my own experience I can say  that it is really enjoyable. We utilized it for  four-person group task. We chose 'climate change 'from the topics given by our teacher. Then we  researched and posted them. In one page both mine and my fellows' changes could be seen. thus, I evaluate it
as a useful web 2.0 tool for education.

You can access our (Sude FİLİZ, Eray SEZER ,Sara BAL and me )  Padlet page as an example for yourself.

              See you soon.

           Take care of yourself .🙋
